PE aims to:

  • engage individuals with lived experience of health issues – either their own, as a caregiver, family member or friend;
  • match patients as equal partners on health research teams. and
  • include patients at all stages of the research process including to:
    •  identify research priorities
    •  conduct data collection and analysis
    • share results

This inclusive research process can inform health care policies and practices to make the results more meaningful and relevant to everyone.
