Alberta SPOR SUPPORT Unit’s Data and Research Services team has access to a wide range of Alberta Health Services (AHS) data sets. In addition to the data sets listed below, other data sets may currently be available on a limited basis or will be added in the future.

Discharge Abstract Database (DAD)

Acute care inpatient hospitalizations in Alberta

Earliest data: April 1, 2002

Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT)

Patient transfers and location within hospital

Earliest data: February 1, 2020

National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS)

Ambulatory encounters in Alberta, including emergency department, same-day surgery, and day procedures.

Earliest data: April 1, 2002

Emergency Department Information System (EDIS)

Ambulatory encounters in Alberta, including emergency department, same-day surgery, and day procedures.

Earliest data: April 1, 2010

Pharmaceutical Information Network (PIN)

Prescription drugs dispensed from most community pharmacies in Alberta.

Practitioner Claims

Health service claims submitted for payment by providers in Alberta under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan.

Laboratory

All AHS general lab tests including clinical chemistry, toxicology, hematology, serology, urinalysis and immunology.

Provincial Registry
