The Alberta Implementation Guidebook distils implementation science into practical implementation guidance. It can be used by anyone aiming to implement a proven change in the Alberta healthcare system.

The Guidebook was developed by the AbSPORU Learning Health System team in partnership with health-system researchers and practitioners. The final product breaks down implementation into a checklist-style series of iterative, essential elements grouped into four phases:

• Explore: Understand what is not working and explore proven changes
• Plan and Prepare: Get everyone engaged and organized to make the change
• Implement: Follow plans, review progress, and adjust as needed
• Sustain: Support the change so it becomes routine
