This tool can be used to measure the degree to which a project meets the definition of patient-oriented research as described by the CIHR Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR). The tool uses five criteria adopted from SPOR published documents and rates each on a scale from 1 to 5.
The criteria include:
- patients are partners,
- patient identified priorities,
- outcomes important to patients,
- team is multidisciplinary, and
- team aims to integrate knowledge into practice.
